An Epiphany: How I’m Reclaiming My Life as a Single Mom with a 5-Year Vision Plan

By Stacy Kelly | Resilient Mompreneur

I Needed an Epiphany

I had a conversation — not with anyone else, but with myself. it was a realisation that hit me: I was short-changing my potential; it had me in tears and I was glad for the wake-up call. I’d been slipping into the trap of nonchalance, overwhelm, and quiet complaint again. But deep down, I knew the truth — I was fighting against the resistance my mindset had built up for so many years. So, I decided to go to war with it. Why did I go to war? For many years I struggled with procrastination and self-belief. If something felt right and I was making progress my mind suddenly switched off and I was left feeling doubtful. Well, I am tired of it. How many times should I prove to myself that I have what it takes? If I can study and pass exams, acquire certifications, learn to drive a car and confidently drive on the road then I can build a business successfully, believe in myself and become the best version of myself.

I got out of bed. I made a plan.
I asked myself:
“Why are you so good at advising others, yet so hesitant to apply it to yourself?” Why wasn’t I applying the same wisdom to my life? I decided there and then that I would start now and it began with planning for the long term.

The Power of Planning as a Single Mom

As a mom to a little boy who turns 3 this April, it feels scary. Life moves quickly, and I often feel unprepared. But the truth is, I can’t afford not to show up. I must be ready — for my son, for work, for the business I’m building, for the life I believe I deserve.

I’ve always set short-term goals — usually three to six months ahead. But long-term goals? I rarely touched those. Isn’t that wild?

That stops now!

Short-Term Goals vs. Long-Term Vision

Short-term goals have helped me survive. But long-term vision? That’s what will help me thrive. I’ve decided to map out a 1 to 5-year plan that includes:

  • *     Personal Growth
  • *     Business Success
  • *     Spiritual Alignment
  • *     Financial Freedom
  • *     Raising my son with intention and love

And I want you to come along with me.

Using Journals and Planners to Stay Focused

I’ve always loved planners. For years, I bought beautifully designed ones created by other people. But now, I’ve started making my own — for women like me who need more than pretty pages. We need purpose. Structure. Encouragement. Simplicity.

And now, I’m using them to build the life I’ve been dreaming about. Not perfectly. Not all at once. But with intention, faith, and fire.

Starting from Where You Are

Maybe you don’t have the resources you think you need. Neither do I. But guess what?
You don’t need perfect. You need progress.

God didn’t give me this vision to leave it unfulfilled. And He didn’t give you yours to let it collect dust. So together, let’s start planning, dreaming, and walking boldly.
