Trusting God When Life Feels Uncertain as a Single Mom
Life
as a single mom is full of unknowns. From finances to parenting
challenges, there are moments when the weight of responsibility feels
overwhelming.
It’s
easy for me to wonder: Will I have enough? Am I making the right decisions?
How will I get through this?
But
in the middle of all the uncertainty, there is one unshakeable truth: God is
with you and He is with me. Even when the future feels unclear, He is
already making a way. I have seen this time after time and proved He provides
for me each day.
1.
God Knows Your Needs Before You Even Ask
When
you’re the sole provider, it’s natural to worry about money, stability, and
security. But God sees your needs and promises to provide.
Matthew 6:31-33 (NIV) – “So do not worry,
saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’
… Your heavenly Father knows that you need them.”
God
is not ignoring your struggles—He’s already working behind the scenes. Trust
Him to meet your needs, one step at a time. I find that prayer helps and
when I am doubting, I pray for the Lord to help my unbelief. Look, it is not
easy having unshakeable faith, however, it is possible.
Luke
17:6 (NIV) -‘Jesus said, if we have faith as small as a mustard seed we
can tell the mountain to move….’
2.
You Are Never Alone
There
are days when single motherhood feels isolating. But the enemy wants you to
believe you’re alone—and that is a lie. God is right beside you, even in
the hard moments. I struggled with this for a long time and I started
praying more for God to provide me with a support system, for me to have
physical support and you know what He has healed relationships that have now
become so important to me and my toddler. He is a God who is also practical.
Deuteronomy 31:8 (NIV) – “The Lord himself goes
before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
When
you feel weary and unseen, remind yourself that God is holding you
close.
3.
Your Strength Comes from Him
Let’s
be honest—there are days when you feel physically, emotionally, and
spiritually drained. But you don’t have to carry everything on your own.
Isaiah 40:31 (NIV) – “But those who hope in
the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles.”
Instead
of trying to figure it all out alone, lean on God. Ask Him for wisdom,
peace, and the strength to keep going.
4.
God Has a Future for You and Your Child
It’s
easy to fear the unknown. But God does not lead you into uncertainty without
a plan. Even when things don’t go how you expected, He is still in
control.
Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV) – “For I know the plans
I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
plans to give you hope and a future.”
Your
story isn’t over, my story isn’t over. God has a purpose for you
and your child, and He is guiding your steps.
5.
Keep Trusting, Even When It’s Hard
Faith
isn’t about having all the answers—it’s about trusting God even when
you don’t.
When
doubt creeps in, pray, lean into scripture, and hold onto His promises.
The storms will come, but God will always bring you through.
Final
Thoughts
Being
a single mom comes with challenges, but you are never walking alone. God
is faithful, and He will provide, strengthen, and guide you through every
season.
